We listened. Did we hear?

January 21, 2009

Barack Obama delivered a somber, value-filled Inauguration speech yesterday. It offered the hope upon which his campain was built, but still punctuated the real and true crisis our country faces. It was a speech with no real great phrases. Instead, more of an outline that focused on personal and governmental responsibility. In order for us to get ahead, we’re gonna have to sacrifice people! He looked all of the world in the eye and asked us to rise to the challenge. Are we ready to answer his call?

One of my favorite moments from yesterday’s celebration was the music. John Williams arranged a beautiful piece masterfully brought to life by the quartet of Itzhak Pearlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Anthony McGill, and Gabriela Montero.

I was total waterworks at this point!
