The Electric Company is back!

The beloved 1970’s PBS literacy series has been rebooted for a 21st century audience. Rather than Morgan Freeman and Rita Moreno grooving to a Motown alphabet song – we’ll see 4 young “semi-superheroes” who will use their powers for good by getting kids to eat healthy portions and conjugate verbs correctly. The tie-dye and hippie culture has been replaced with an urban rap and hip-hop vibe that includes a human beat-box. Guest appearances include Jimmy Fallon, Common, and Ne-Yo. The new version is faster, busier, and louder than the original. We’ll see if it can find a fan base among the wealth of children’s programming today. It airs Sundays @ 10:30AM on OPB. Check your local PBS listings.
